Still I rise

Excerpt “Still I rise”

“Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I’ll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don’t you take it awful hard
‘Cause I laugh like I’ve got gold mines
Diggin’ in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I’ll rise.”

Welcome to my writing blog and my new journey. I have chosen an excerpt from one of my favourite poems.

Overwhelmed with my new venture  I remind myself whilst my kids are tucked in safe of the power of a resilient spirit.

My life has been filled with this spirit of not budging under any trial, opposition and bending moments. This resilience comes from inculcating a personal relationship with God.

I would like to remind you of that resilience which each of us possess. The world can be extremely cruel and for gentle souls it can “shake” us. Please delve within and stand firm, do not budge, do not lower your principles, do not be a people pleaser…. RISE! RISE! RISE!

Rise in your consciousness; develop a closer relationship with our Supreme father. His gentle touch can move mountains. He is rooting for you, He has your back. He loves you!

Look around, smell the earthy grass, savour the crisp air, count the innumerable stars and appreciate those around you. Please appreciate each service: the garbage truck driver and collector, the post man, the water that flows from the taps that you open, the food on your table, your health, your friends and your family.

What are you grateful for? In what situations are you adopting a resilient spirit? Please share:)

All we need is love.

Love you
Julia (Dhama-rupini)
